I heard about 23 Things for Professional Development last year, when everybody participating was on Thing 11 or thereabouts, courtesy of a friend introduced to me by the Pre-Raphaelites. It seemed too late at that stage to try to catch up so I occasionally dropped in at CPD23 HQ to see what was going on, but didn’t do anything more than that.
Life having taken some unexpected turns since then, I contacted the evil geniuses behind the scheme (please note: I consider “evil genius” one of the highest possible compliments) to ask if it would be possible to get the programme completion certificate if I worked at it at my own pace. While I was more interested in using the structure as a means of evaluating my librarianship practices and knowledge, the certificate could be used in my CILIP Chartership portfolio as evidence of my continuing evaluation of my work and of my engagement with the wider library community. A few months on from the email conversation with Katie, one of the aforementioned evil geniuses, I still.have these goals and am delighted that CPD23 is having a second run. It will be great to meet so many other people on the road!
